transvaginal mesh victim

The FDA has received thousands of reports of
significant complications from

Transvaginal Mesh Patches.

Dangerous Side Effects of Transvaginal Mesh Patches Include:

  • Erosion of the vaginal epitheslium
  • Bladder or bowel perforation
  • Serious infection
  • Return of pelvic organ prolapse
  • Urinary incontinence

In a July 2011 report, the FDA said complications from mesh products "can be life-altering," and pain can persist even if the mesh is surgically removed. Despite the increased risks, the FDA said vaginal mesh does not appear to be more effective than alternate treatments.

Thousands of Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuits

Nearly 15,000 federal lawsuits have been filed against manufacturers of transvaginal mesh, and the number continues to grow as more and more women stand up for themselves against the manufacturers of the products that caused them to suffer.

Some have already been victorious. A 53-year-old woman was awarded $5.5 million in July 2012 from manufacturer C.R. Bard. In February 2013, a jury ordered Johnson & Johnson to pay more than $11 million to a woman who required 18 revision surgeries after being implanted with a mesh product made by the company's Ethicon division.

The federal mesh cases have been consolidated into five multidistrict litigations (MDL) based on the manufacturer they're filed against. As of March 14, 2013, the number of suits filed against each manufacturer continues to rise:

  • 4,852 cases filed against AMS
  • 4,642 cases filed against Johnson & Johnson's Ethicon divison
  • 2,777 cases filed against Boston Scientific
  • 2,398 cases filed against C. R. Bard
  • 242 cases filed against Coloplast Corp.
